Fundamentals of
Live Mixing
// Seminar+Workshop //
The sound guy may be behind-the-scenes but their impact is front and center. They should be well-equipped to make the band sound as good as possible, but in the long list of things worship leaders do each week, properly training sound volunteers gets pushed further and further down the list. Mixing is as much technical as it is artistic, and many worship leaders find themselves lost too. There are many eager volunteers, many eager leaders, wanting to improve how worship sounds, but now knowing where to start.
In this seminar it I flesh out the 3 concepts foundational to building an excellent mix: gain, volume, and EQ. Consistent throughout is the interplay between conceptual and practical, melding the technical and artistic. Familiarizing ourselves with these simple concepts has a huge impact on Sunday worship and equips volunteers and staff alike to build better mixes.
The optional workshop is hands-on. We’ll roll up our sleeves and get behind the board to see what all those knobs and sliders actually do. With a band playing in the space you worship in every week we'll put to practice what we learned in the seminar and learn by doing.
This seminar and workshop is great for existing team members who need a refresher or some overt instruction, or for onboarding new volunteers. If you or your team needs tangible, foundational instruction on mixing that will go a long way, let’s talk!
